Scout tips
-
Comfort floor rooms are our favourite option
- First tracks must be booked at reception in advance. The #1 Gondola opens at 7.50 for first tracks and goes to 8.30am. A must after a snowfall. Cost is JPY1500
- No onsen or public bath (have to go to West Wing)
- The three wings are quite separated. There is a shuttle bus which runs at regular intervals throughout the day and early evening to provide transport between the wings.
- The East Wing is the furthest from Ichinose Village so you'll probably rely on the shuttle service rather than walking

SCOUT REVIEW
Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel East is the most modern building of the three Shiga Kogen Prince Hotels with all of the 100 rooms boasting stunning slopeside views. This is also the smallest wing of the three, so this area has a calmer, more intimate feel than the larger South and West wings. (Technically they aren't wings since they are separate buildings.)
The Prince Hotel East is still in the process of being fully refurbished so not all parts of the wing are completely up-to-date, but the rooms on the Comfort floor especially (floor 5) are clean, comfortable and welcoming. All rooms in the East wing are non-smoking, and guests have easy access to the ski lockers and to gondola #1 from the comfort of the hotel. Another bonus of the East wing is that all rooms now have WiFi access, so you don't have to worry about heading down to the lobby to get online.
The East wing also has a lovely dining area in which to enjoy breakfast and dinner, with wonderful views of the slopes. All the staff here are friendly and helpful and are on hand to help you throughout your stay.
The only downside of the East wing is that it is the furthest from Ichinose Village - it's too far to walk - however the regular ski shuttle service makes travel between the hotel and the village quick and convenient.
There is a small snack shop on site as well as an equipment rental store and a coin laundry facility is available.
