San Francisco

California, USA

There’s just so much to do and San Francisco is easy to navigate around, which helps when jet-lagged. Although a major, bustling city, it retains a quaint and down-to-earth feel.  Whether staying for a day or a week, you’ll be delighted.

Scout Loves

  • If you have time and it’s a beautiful day, take a ferry to Tiburon.
  • Strolling the hilltop streets and admiring the cute wooden houses.
  • San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
  • Tartine Bakery in Mission District.
  • The super exclusive Bourbon and Branch on Jones St.

Scout Tips

  • Stroll across the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Union Square has some excellent shopping and cool people watching.
  • Catch a cable car.
  • Fisherman’s Wharf is a tourist trap but fun if you have kids
  • Lombard St for its twists and turns (and tourists).

Getting To The Snow

San Francisco makes a great choice for skiers heading to the slopes, especially the California resorts (such as Lake Tahoe). There are plenty of flights to Reno or it’s a 3-hour drive to the lake resorts (or more with weekend traffic). There are also direct flights to Jackson Hole, Aspen, Vail, Salt Lake City and Denver.
