What's New At Silver Star
Dec 11, 2020
We all love things that are shiny and new and Silver Star is proud to present a stack of new additions to their resort this past season, all steps taken as part of the resort’s five-phase master plan for the mountain and base area.
The biggest and best addition to the resort is the high speed gondola that opened this season, replacing the historic fixed grip Summit double chair, providing quicker access to the Alpine Meadows, Vance Creek and Powder Gulch areas of the resort. The stats are impressive; there will be a cabin loading every 24 seconds and will take guests from village to summit in just under 4 and a half minutes. Plus with floor to ceiling glass, you can sit back and take in the incredible views. It also offers better access for beginners, and a place to warm up for Nordic skiers hitting the upper XC Trails.
Beginners will love the easier access from the village to the Comet Chair, with a widening of the Easy Street ski-way. The additional space will provide first-timers with a bit more confidence and room to make it down the slopes at their own pace. As part of the master plan, Silver Star is also aiming to increase the existing number of ski trails from 128 to 216, and expand the current gladed skiing area (of 120 ha) to a mammoth 413 hectares. Hello powder day tree runs!
Alongside changes to the terrain itself, Silver Star is committed to further improving its village base area, with increased lodging options, an expansion of the resort facilities, and more restaurants and bars to choose from. One new addition this season is the Lookout Café, located just below the Summit Chair in the old Forestry lookout station. Offering a fantastic range of snacks and treats (and ‘real’ coffee!), it’s the perfect place to warm up or stop in for a quick break, or to just simply take in the views.
Silver Star are taking big strides in their resort development and improving the ski vacation experience for the whole family, so get in quick and take advantage of Early Bird Deals and see what all the fuss is about!
