Scout loves
- The property is pretty much ski-in, and not far from being ski-out.
- All rooms on the valley side have spectacular views, framed by large windows. From some of the rooms you can even catch a glimpse of the slopes.
- The hotel’s restaurant, Grouse Mountain Grill, is voted as one of Colorado’s top-rated steak restaurants.
- Fresh cookies in the lobby each afternoon.
Scout tips
- The rooms on the mountain side don’t really have mountain views. For this reason, Scout recommends requesting a room with a valley view.
- All rooms are interconnecting, catering to most family's bedding needs.
- Noise from the corridors and other rooms has a tendency to travel.
- The lodge rooms are on the smaller side.
- It's a 5 minute walk to Strawberry Chairlift, and an uphill stroll to the main village.
SCOUT REVIEW
Offering some of the most spectacular views of any other hotel in the area, The Pines Lodge is a great option for those who want to stay in Beaver Creek but can’t afford the price tag of some of the more luxury hotels.
The location is one of the hotel’s best attributes: it’s conveniently close to the action, but also somewhat secluded. Skiers can practically ski to the side door of the hotel, where a ski valet will cheerfully lock away your skis for the night and pop your boots on the dryers (you'll appreciate toasty warm boots each day!). And in the mornings it’s just a short walk (about the distance of two football fields) to a place where you can put on your skis and schuss off to the chairlifts. The Pines is also home to a rental shop, making it easy for guests to drop skis off for a quick wax or tune, or pick up your equipment away from the crowds in the main village.
Styled to resemble a quant Austrian-style mountain lodge, the rooms within The Pines have undergone a recent upgrade - out with the pastel pinks and in with a much more modern feel - blues, greys and greens. The furnishings are also new and fresh. The corner rooms and King Lodge rooms are rather spacious, with some offering a sleeper sofa for a family ski vacation.
The Pines Lodge is part of the ‘RockResort’ group of hotels (owned by Vail Resort) and it benefits from many of the services and facilities that are generally found in the more luxurious places. These include valet parking, a ski valet service, hot tubs, a pool (which is, admittedly, a bit on the small side), a gym and more. There’s no question that you will be looked after at The Pines – the parking valets, for instance, are some of the friendliest Scout has ever encountered!
Whatever you do, don’t miss Grouse Mountain Grill – a highly awarded restaurant with delicious steaks on offer. It also has a cool piano bar area where guests can enjoy après. A perfect option for a memorable ski vacation in Beaver Creek.
Who should stay here
The Pines Lodge would be a great option for families on a non-Beaver Creek budget but who still want to be close to the slopes and the action.
Location
The Pines is located close to the village, and just a short walk to the slopes in the morning. If you’re clever and the snow permits, you can ski right up to the side door of the hotel.
