SCOUT REVIEW
The Maples Niseko is a relatively new player in the race for prime ski-in ski-out luxury hotels in Niseko - and it has a lot going for it. Opened in December 2018, it offers a fantastic range of apartments, ranging from Studio, 2 Bedroom, 3 Bedroom, and Penthouses, with possibly the best ski-in ski-out access of any hotel in Upper Hirafu.
The apartments at The Maples have been wonderfully designed, with a major focus on spacious living areas and functional kitchens, especially catered to families. Each apartment is decorated with a style that seems to be aimed at appealing to as large an audience as possible by being simple and somewhat bland, with muted tones and plenty of brown, beige and wood. Each houses a full kitchen with modern appliances (kitchenettes in Studios), living and dining area, washer & dryer, and the option of either kings or single bedding, perfect for families who require flexible sleeping arrangements. Guests also have the choice of view depending on their budget, from village views, and ski slope views, to stunning views of Mt Yotei. The studio rooms are all located on the ground floors, so don't offer any particular view. Scout loves the huge windows featured in each apartment, especially those facing the ski resort side where you almost feel like you're already on the slopes!
Barely metres from the Ace Family Run, it has never been more convenient to hit the slopes each day. The Maples Niseko features large individual ski lockers, with great access directly from the slopes, and a cafe (Three Trees Cafe) and restaurant on site to either grab-and-go or to enjoy a long lunch (yummy noodle bowls with alternating menu). There is an onsite physio too, which once-a-year skiers will well and truly appreciate. For those booking rentals via Rhythm, you can simply leave your gear in the ski locker at the end of your stay (how convenient!). The only thing missing from the Maples is an onsen. Families will love the 24 hour reception/concierge, and the proximity to both ski school and the main Hirafu village - the triple threat! Local restaurants, bars, supermarket, and onsen are all within a few minutes walk (no shuttle rides needed!), making The Maples the perfect choice for a family ski vacation.
