SCOUT REVIEW
You probably don’t need Scout to point out that when it comes to good value ski resort lodging, choices can be fairly limited. Plus, the more affordable options tend to be located a long walk away from the main village. But The Grand Lodge, we’re happy to report, is an exception to the rule – offering great value in a highly convenient location.
Rates are a bit lower than staying at other hotels, and you can get a decent king room that’s facing the mountain, with full-service hotel facilities, all within steps of the lifts for a great price. There are very few hotels in a ski resort as great as Crested Butte that offer this much value – which is why it’s not surprising that The Grand Lodge has so many return visitors.
Bear in mind however that the rooms are not luxurious – the hotel was refurbished in 2007 and some of it is starting to feel old. But on the plus side, the hotel was built with longer stays in mind, so all of the rooms (except the kings) have kitchen facilities. Most also have queen or king murphy beds in the living areas (with proper mattresses) so it’s the perfect set-up for groups of friends, or for families who don’t want to purchase two rooms.
The Grand Lodge also features a great indoor/outdoor heated pool and a large hot tub (although just one hot tub for a 220 room hotel makes for a bit of tight squeeze – or a party!). There is also a small gym and steam room for you to enjoy. The Woodstone Grill is a popular spot for lunch and dinner, and the Deli offers fresh Starbucks coffee and grab-and-go breakfast.
For families seeking a really great value condo in the heart of the resort base area, you can't go past the Grand Lodge.

About Crested Butte
Crested Butte, with its steeps looming above gentle beginner slopes, is the perfect playground for more adventurous families where luxury is not necessarily important. They’ll mix quite happily with ski bums who come to the resort for its expert terrain and a laid-back, hippie personality. Its historic downtown area is incredibly picturesque - old Victorian mining buildings surrounded by steep mountains with some fantastic restaurants and bars. Excellent ski school, impeccable grooming, and good variety of accommodation rounds out the reasons why Crested Butte is a terrific choice for a ski holiday.
