Scout loves
- Location, Location, Location – this is the only ski-in ski-out property on Main Street.
- Most of the condos have private balconies, with many overlooking Main Street.
- There’s a free shuttle in winter to take you places (including Deer Valley).
- The condos are so spacious they feel more like homes.
- Washer/dryers, full kitchens and jetted tubs in the master bathrooms come standard.
Scout tips
- The Caledonian is small and is so popular that it is often booked out 8 months in advance… so get in early! (Don’t even bother trying to book during the Sundance Film Festival).
- The condos are individually owned, therefore have varying styles and qualities of furnishings.
- Free underground parking is provided for the first car. Each additional car is charged at $15.
- The front desk is not manned 24 hours, but has an emergency number you can call.
- The property is not for those looking for peace and quiet, as it’s right on Main Street.
- Some of the condos can feel a little dated, but that’s part of the charm of the place.
SCOUT REVIEW
Want to stay at a ski-in ski-out property in Park City that’s also right in the heart of town? The Caledonian makes an exceptional choice.
Built in 1997, the lobby area and some of the condos are starting to look their age – but who cares! With a location this good, and condos this huge, it’s really not much of an issue. Plus, some of the decorations are kind of cool in a retro way. If you’re looking for something a little more luxurious you can always book a ‘premium’ condo rather than a ‘standard’, however they are in short supply.
While The Caledonian doesn’t have some of the luxuries of the 5 star properties in Park City, it does however feature private hot tubs which overlook all the action on Main Street. And while you’ll have to forgo valets, room service and a pool; guests are able to get a discount pass to the nearby Silver Mountain Sports Club.
All up, this is an unpretentious self-service condo complex that places you right in the heart of the action and an effortless few steps to the ski lift in the morning.
Who should stay here
Would suit down-to-earth people who aren’t too precious about furnishings and finishes, and are looking for something that’s convenient and homely. Great for families or groups of friends who want to be near the thick of the action.
Location
The Caledonian is located right on Park City’s historic Main Street and next to the Town Lift. There are two blue ski runs that provide ski-in access – or alternatively, beginners can catch the lift back down.

About Park City
Park City has a combination of several elements that make it one of the best ski resorts in North America. Not only is it a world-class ski mountain but it’s a charming and happening town, all within 35 minutes of a major airport. There aren’t many places you can fly to in the morning and be skiing in the afternoon. Park City is also famous for hosting a third of the events during the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, as well as the annual Sundance Film Festival that sees the town bursting at the seams while the well-heeled and famous party. When a gondola was built connecting neighbouring Canyons resort to Park City Resort the area became one and the name Canyons was eventually dropped. Park City Mountain now offers a mammoth amount of terrain to explore (with two village bases - Mountain Village and Canyons Village), exceptional facilities for families, and lodging options to suit all budgets.
