Scout tips
- This hotel is luxurious by Big Sky standards, but is not at the same level as hotels in other resorts such as Aspen or Vail
- Mountain view rooms can get noise from groomers during the night
- Valley view rooms are quieter and those on the higher floors have great views of the distant mountains
- The studio rooms have wall beds only
- The hot tubs can get crowded in the afternoons
SCOUT REVIEW
When President Obama and Vice President Biden came to Big Sky they chose to stay at Summit at Big Sky. So as far as standards go, if it’s fit for a President then it’s good enough for Scout customers!
Even if you disregard that particular claim to fame, there’s no denying that Summit at Big Sky is right up there in terms of luxury. For a hotel at this price, Summit has all the luxuries you would expect – starting with its ski-in ski-out location (which is the best in Big Sky). On top of this, the hotel features a ski valet, an indoor/outdoor soaking pool, a decent fitness centre, undercover parking, full concierge and reception, and fantastic views.
Another thing that’s great about Summit is that it also offers a decent mix of room types. These start with regular hotel rooms and go right up to the four bedroom penthouse suites that can sleep up to 10 people. The smallest hotel room is still a decent size (400 sq.ft./37sqm), while anything from a studio and up will come with a full kitchen and fireplace. The studios are great if you’re a couple who would like to cook a few meals, however it’s worth noting the bed is a wall/Murphy bed that is brought down in the evening during the turndown service. Some suites even have a hot tub on the balcony - hello luxury!
The Summit at Big Sky is a wonderful choice for families and skiers who seek a luxurious stay with fantastic access to the slopes.

About Big Sky
Big Sky Montana used to be one of skiing’s best kept secrets. While the word about this fantastic resort has gotten out, the resort just continues to get better – especially since it acquired two neighboring resorts, including Moonlight Basin. Offering the largest skiable terrain in Montana (over 5800 acres!), Big Sky also boasts one of the biggest vertical drops in North America - a staggering 4366 feet - meaning incredible steep slopes, chutes, and leg-burning runs, along with plenty of intermediate and beginner terrain.
