- Make sure you reserve a table at Matsuhisa Japanese restaurant.

SCOUT REVIEW
The Solaris at Vail is where to stay if you want the very best of everything. Jaw-dropping in every way, the grandeur of Solaris can be seen from virtually every point in the village. Solaris has also provided the village with a number of fantastic facilities, including an ice rink, a deluxe movie theatre, a 10 lane bowling alley (book well ahead for evenings), and several top-of-the-line restaurants (of which Matsuhisa by Nobu Matsuhisa is a must).
For those lucky enough to be able to venture upstairs into the Solaris Residences, you will enter another world. Put simply, if you can afford to stay here, do – you will not be disappointed.
Solaris has thought of everything you could possibly want from a Vail ski vacation, done it superbly, and then added a host of features you didn’t even realize you wanted. The state-of-the-art ‘Crestron Home Automation’ technology, for instance, features everything from webcams and light switches to weather reports and valet services. This tablet system is designed to make life easy, which is most certainly does.
Your life will also be improved by the personal assistants, assigned to every guest. The service philosophy of the Solaris is that guests should be treated exactly as a member of their family would be treated. So, your personal assistant will know everything about you and how to pre-empt your every need and desire before, during and after your stay. By the end of which, you’ll want to take them home with you.
In fairness, Solaris could justify its (hefty) rates based on the service alone. However, the condos (Solaris prefers to call them ‘residences’) are equally as impressive. Contemporary furnishings and decorations (think: Room & Board) provide a comfortable and refreshing break from the typical mountain style of furniture found in most other ski hotels. And the views from the residences facing the slopes are nothing short of incredible.
The surrounding plaza area at the Solaris has everything you need for your ski vacation, including a number of restaurants and cafes including Yeti's Grind (amazing coffee to start your day) and Vail Brewing Company (hello après!). Families will love CinéBistro - Vail’s upscale movie theater, where you can enjoy a gourmet meal before (or during) the film.
The only problem with Solaris is that once you stay there, you may never want to leave (in fact some don’t – it has several long-term rentals). Let’s just say it’ll be a sad moment when your private jet fires up its engines at the end of your trip.
Who should stay here
Solaris is ideal for families and couples who seek the ultimate in luxury at Vail.
Location
Situated on the edge of Vail Village, Solaris is easily accessible by car, but it’s also right in the thick of the action – i.e. pedestrian friendly. It is a short (10min) walk to Gondola One. Everything you need is at your doorstep including a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.
- <5 min walk to lifts
About Vail
If Aspen is Hollywood then Vail is Wall St - popular with the money-never-sleeps-but-it-does-wear-Bogner set. Attracting tens of thousands of visitors a year, it’s quite the place to be seen, and to ski! Luxury is standard at Vail, the pedestrian-friendly village weaves around the buildings and has a wonderful European-style feel to it. The mountain terrain (one of the largest in the world) boasts perfectly groomed corduroy, powder stashes galore, and pristine tree skiing. Team this up with endless accommodation options, easy access from Denver, and one of the best après scenes in North America, it's no surprise Vail is a favourite among local and international ski enthusiasts.
