Scout loves
- Great ski-in ski-out location
- Luxurious bathrooms with super deep soaking tubs
- Fantastic interconnecting room combinations for families and larger residences
- Pre-dinner craft cocktails (or après) with matching views at Alpenglow
- Impeccable service throughout the hotel - you'll never have to lift a finger!
Scout tips
- Treat yourself to a delicious in-house made pastry for a little pick-me-up
- Rooms with "Resort View" look on to other parts of the building (not ski resort slopes)
- Private lessons are highly recommended to guests staying at the Montage, but there are scheduled shuttles to/from the Mountain Village for easy access to ski school
- This is a destination hotel with only a few great restaurants and bars, however the town of Big Sky is an easy 15 minute drive (complimentary Cadiallac service provided for guests)
SCOUT REVIEW
For those seeking unparalleled luxury and the ultimate ski vacation experience in Big Sky, the Montage is everything you seek... and more!
Montage Big Sky is big and beautiful. Boasting over 100 rooms and suites (and 30+ ultra-decadent residences), this ski-in ski-out resort hotel nestled in the foothills of the Spanish Peaks mountain range is a wonderful mix of modern elegance and adventurous mountain lifestyle. The Montage brand is renowned for having the highest quality of hotel amenities, endless on-site facilities, and top-notch service throughout, and this incredible Big Sky offering is no different.
Each of the rooms and suites at the Montage are wonderfully styled with a mix of wood and stone features, creating a calming oasis for your ski stay. Scout loves the stunning bathrooms, each home to high-end finishes and a super deep soaking tub that is just too inviting after a long day on the slopes. The plush king beds will also make it hard for you to leave each morning! All rooms feature a fireplace to cosy up around, and majority of the rooms and suites on offer have a balcony (ideal spot for your morning coffee). What makes the Montage rooms especially great are the endless interconnecting options for families, with many king and one bedroom suites opening up to two queen rooms, making it an ideal option for small families. The views vary depending on the room however guests can enjoy stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks - something definitely worth waking up to!
For those with larger families or seek self-contained lodging, the Montage residences - ranging from 2-6 bedrooms, boast full kitchens, spacious living, and vaulted ceilings to take in the incredible mountain views. It truly feels like home, with lots of extra special touches like wooden floors throughout, deep soaking tubs, and mountain-inspired furnishings.
It's also the lots of little touches that make your stay at Montage Big Sky unlike any other - evening turn-down service, humidifiers in each room (to combat that high altitude), deluxe mini-bar options, complimentary water and snacks throughout the day, morning yoga sessions, and some of the most welcoming lounge and communal spaces. Not to mention the option of having your own custom made (and fit) cowboy hat from the on-site boutique - in true Montana mountain style!
Like the Montage in Deer Valley, the on-site amenities available to guests throughout their stay means it is a true resort-style hotel, with no need to leave other than to hit the slopes. The hotel features six dining 'destinations', each inspired by local (and international) flavours, with something for every occasion (and craving). Start your evening off with a craft cocktail or two (with matching mountain views) at Alpenglow, before heading to the hotel's signature restaurant, Cortina, for traditional Italian fare. For those seeking local Montana produce and seasonal menus, Backcast is home to truly hearty meals, with a slopeside view to match. The Beartooth Pub is a family favourite with wood-fired pizzas and drool-worthy desserts, plus a spot of bowling for the kids. Scout loves the Wildflower Market, where you can grab-and-go a coffee and in-house made Parisian pastry on a powder day, or fuel up with a mid-ski snack.
Alongside the impeccable dining experiences, the Montage boasts a mammoth on-site spa; over 10,000 ft of relaxation ready for you to enjoy. Spa Montage Big Sky is a wellness sanctuary offering signature massage and treatments, sophisticated amenities, and a restful indoor pool. Your resort fee also includes complimentary wellness classes. Families will enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tubs, communal living spaces, and of course, in true Montage style, the four lane bowling ally. Kids (and kids at heart) will also love the daily s'mores, cooked over the outdoor fire pit. There is a ski rental shop for added convenience, and guests can make use of the complimentary Cadillac car rental to explore the surrounding areas and town of Big Sky, home to some fantastic local restaurants and shops.
Located in a prime ski-in ski-out location, it is super easy to hit the slopes each morning. One thing to note is the hotel is situated away from the main resort base area, so guests can either take a series of chairlifts or jump on the scheduled shuttle (two AM and PM options daily) to venture over to the Mountain Village. It is for this reason we recommend private lessons, which can start from the moment the ski valet clips you into your skis for the day!
Where Montage stands out above the rest is its commitment to first-class service. Everything you need for the ultimate ski vacation is at your fingertips, and team at Montage are there to ensure you have the most memorable stay yet. The ski valet and concierge service is unlike any other - if you've stayed at a Montage before you know what we're talking about!
For those seeking an effortless ski vacation in Big Sky, you truly can't go past the Montage.

About Big Sky
Big Sky Montana used to be one of skiing’s best kept secrets. While the word about this fantastic resort has gotten out, the resort just continues to get better – especially since it acquired two neighboring resorts, including Moonlight Basin. Offering the largest skiable terrain in Montana (over 5800 acres!), Big Sky also boasts one of the biggest vertical drops in North America - a staggering 4366 feet - meaning incredible steep slopes, chutes, and leg-burning runs, along with plenty of intermediate and beginner terrain.
