SCOUT REVIEW
If you want to be first on the chairlift each morning, Mammoth Mountain Inn is your spot. This long-time favorite sits right at the base of Mammoth Mountain, next to the Main Lodge and the Panorama Gondola, making it one of the most convenient places to stay for skiers and snowboarders. The classic alpine-style inn has been welcoming winter guests for decades, and while some of its rooms show their age, the unbeatable location more than makes up for it.
The property offers a wide range of accommodations—from traditional hotel rooms to larger condo-style suites with kitchens—catering to everyone from solo skiers to families and groups. The ski-in ski-out access means you can step out of your room and be on the slopes within minutes, with ski rentals, lockers, and lessons all right on site.
After a long day on the mountain, the heated outdoor pool and multiple hot tubs are perfect for soaking sore legs while taking in the view of the snow-dusted Sierra peaks. There’s a small bar and restaurant for casual dining, though many guests take advantage of the shuttle service down to The Village for more lively après options and restaurants.
Mammoth Mountain Inn has an authentic, nostalgic ski-lodge feel—a bit retro but charming. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the mountain, adding to the sense that you’re staying somewhere built by and for passionate skiers.
Who should stay here
Perfect for skiers and snowboarders who want maximum mountain access and families looking for ski school convenience. Also great for those who prioritize location over luxury.
