SCOUT REVIEW
At the far right hand side of Mammoth Mountain lies the Main Lodge ski area base and the Mammoth Mountain Inn. Built in the late 1950’s it has a very friendly and laid-back atmosphere. Although it’s gone through various remodels and renovations, the inn still maintains a wonderful classic mountain ski lodge vibe.
The hotel has 217 rooms ranging from a standard hotel room to the more luxurious two-bedroom condo with loft. There is definitely a room type to suit all families. Guests are housed in different buildings depending on which type of room you choose. Scout prefers the rooms located in the main building, which houses the standard rooms and deluxe rooms with lofts, although these rooms do not have any kitchen facilities. These rooms are more updated and centrally located to the slopes and all of the facilities of the hotel. Some of the larger units such as the two bedroom condos include additional lofts, which have perfect bedding options for families and groups. The studio condos and up in the West Building offer an efficiency kitchen, while the units in the East Building have larger kitchen spaces to cook up a storm.
The Mountainside Bar & Grill is the hotel’s main restaurant which serves traditional American favourites and its specialty, seared cuts of steak. Scout loves the après ski bar - the perfect spot for a local beer while watching more avid skiers test their skills at the terrain park. Mammoth Mountain Inn is located right opposite the famous Yodel bar which is a popular après spot too. There is a small general store on site which offers basic groceries for a shorter stay.
The hotel has numerous facilities such as an outdoor Jacuzzi and a large heated swimming pool which is open all-year round, three indoor Jacuzzis, a well-equipped fitness center, a business center, coin-operated laundry facilities, ski rentals, a game room equipped with wi-fi internet access, PlayStation and an Xbox. There is a ski rental shop on site (not Mammoth affiliated), super friendly ski valet, and a lift ticket kiosk, so you're hitting the slopes right away on your first day.
Mammoth Mountain Inn is a fantastic lodging option (and incredible value) for a ski vacation in Mammoth, particularly for those who prefer to be closest to the slopes each morning over proximity to the main village base.
Who should stay here
Mammoth Mountain Inn is excellent for families or couples who don’t mind being a little separated from the village, and for people who want to have the best access to the ski lift and slopes.
Location
Mammoth Mountain Inn is in the main lodge ski base area to the far right of the ski resort - about a five minute drive from the main village area. It is directly opposite the lifts and the ski slopes. There is a public shuttle bus called the “Red Line” that passes every fifteen minutes and goes to the other parts of the mountain including the village. The hotel also runs an on-demand shuttle to the village.
