SCOUT REVIEW

Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains is one of the many five star hotels in St Moritz and of all these, Kempinski Grand Hotel is probably the most relaxed – just perfect for those who are a bit younger. It is very refined, relaxed, and sophisticated, yet prides itself on its “sportive” atmosphere.

The Kempinski is over a 150 years old, so has a lot of tradition from back when St Moritz was a health spa resort town, well before skiing was ever a part of life in St Moritz. Yet it’s perfect for skiers as it’s conveniently located just a four minute walk from the St Moritz Bad tram station that accesses the Corviglia ski area.

There are four restaurants at Kempinski, one of which has earned one Michelin Star. The choices range from the grand Restaurant Les Saisons, which is a grill restaurant with incredible steak from around the world. There's an Italian-Mediterranean style, and Asian style, and one with modern regional delicacies. The grill restaurant is included in the half board, if you choose that option. There's also a fantastic lobby bar, which has a good atmosphere, some great snacks, and excellent drink menu. They serve high tea during the day, and cocktails in the evening with a DJ spinning in the background.  The hotel is a busy place, a lot of people and activity here, so it certainly gives that feeling of energy and youthfulness.

The rooms at Kempinski Grand range from small Classic Single rooms, right through to large suites. They are all decorated in a rather elegant traditional style and they feel grand, sophisticated but comfortable with lots of light coming through windows. Scout loves the wonderful old, black and white ski photos adorning the walls. Some of the rooms have views to the mountains, and some of those get sun and have balconies, while others have village views.

The wellness area here is huge, 2,800 m2 on two levels. There is an excellent large gym, with a yoga studio, a large indoor pool, a variety of saunas and steam baths, a separate Ladies Spa, and relaxing areas. There's a Day Spa with a whole range of treatments.

Kempinski has a very active Kid's Club, that has supervision everyday and is included in the rates. Great for families, especially those that want to leave their kids supervised while they enjoy more adult time. Kid's Club is open daily, from 10am to 7pm, for children ages 2 years and above. Supervised care includes lunch. There's also time set aside for children to use the pool so they can have their own space and make as much noise as they like.
