SCOUT REVIEW
If you are looking for comfortable, near slope-side Japanese style accommodation in Hakuba, Hotel Moegi will not disappoint. Hotel Moegi is a small, family-run Japanese/Western style hotel. The hotel decor is dated and worn but it is clean and for Japanese standards the rooms are generous in size.
Our favorite part of Hotel Moegi (apart from its great location) is the staff. It is run by a lovely family and all the staff make an effort to speak English and are extremely friendly. They will welcome you as if it were their own home.
There is an inviting fireplace in the reception area and a massage chair to relax after a day on the slopes. There is also an onsen which (although simple) is a must to rejuvenate after a long day. The communal living space is small and late night gatherings are not encouraged so Hotel Moegi would be particularly good for those seeking well located, quieter accommodation.
There are many room choices at Hotel Moegi to suit your needs; such as twin rooms, triple rooms and also studio-style rooms with small kitchens should you like to cook and prepare some of your own meals.
Breakfast at Hotel Moegi is plentiful. There is hot cooked western breakfast and plenty of breads, cereals and fruit salad as well as Japanese breakfast dishes. Dinner is also served at Hotel Moegi for those who book, otherwise there are plenty of dinner options in the village of Happo-One, about a 5-10 minute downhill walk from the hotel.
Who should stay here
Hotel Moegi is perfect for families looking for well located, value accommodation in Hakuba, also couples and those seeking quieter accommodation.
Location
Hotel Moegi is in a great location with easy access to the base of Happo One. The hotel is just 100m from the Happo ‘Adam’ Gondola and across the road from Shirakaba 2 lift. It is a short walk up hill to the Kokusai Ski lift and the Evergreen Ski School. When the road is covered in snow you can ski back to the hotel.
