SCOUT REVIEW
If you are looking for a small, traditional style hotel not far from the center of Chamonix, then look no further than Chalet Hotel Hermitage. This hotel has been family run for three generations, and has a charming and cozy chalet style, from the living areas which feature lots of wooden furniture and antiques, cute knickknacks and decorations, through to the rooms which have lots of wood and welcoming, comfortable bedding. Some rooms enjoy spectacular views of Mont Blanc, right through the valley, past the Aiguilles de Chamonix and Brévent.
There are only 22 rooms and four suites at the Hermitage, meaning the attention you will get is very personal and attentive. Being family run, they're absolutely invested in making sure your stay is a pleasant one. The are two different Standard rooms (20-25 m2), the first only has shower, the other has bath and views of the Mont Blanc (therefore commanding a higher price). The Mont Blanc suite, for two guests is larger at 42 m2. There are also two Triple rooms.
If you’re a larger group or family you can also rent a suite at the chalet next door. These Chalet suites are for 4 to 5 guests. Since the chalet is apart from the main hotel, it does feel like you have your own private home in the French Alps. The largest accommodations is the La Maisonnée Cottage, for 7 guests with 150 m2 of space spread across 2 levels including 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, fireplace, entertainment center, terrace and views of Mont Blanc. We think the cottage is very good value for a large group, who want to close to the center of Chamonix.
There's a cute little shop in the hotel, with lots of little gift ideas. Other facilities at this hotel include playroom for kids, home cinema, ski storage room with lockers, massage therapies and sauna.
The hotel serves breakfast at an additional charge (free for children under 10 years). There is no dinner offered but they do have evening drinks served from the little bar. For those who think tea or coffee time is the best time of the day, you'll love this hotel. Sophie and Michel Paccard, the owners of the hotel, invite their guests to join them for Saturday evening welcome drinks, which has become a tradition of the hotel.
Hotel Hermitage Paccard is located a little bit out of Chamonix town, just a flat 10 minute walk, so certainly very easy to get to. Its location means that the hotel is actually quite peaceful, and feels a bit more secluded from the hustle and bustle of Chamonix. This small hotel feels sophisticated, yet warm and charming. Definitely for those who will appreciate the traditional alpine style.
Who should stay here
Chalet Hotel Hermitage Paccard is great for couples, old and young, who want to be a bit away from downtown Chamonix but still convenient to the bus stop and village, and who appreciate a lovely, family run hotel.
Location
Chalet Hotel Hermitage Paccard is located on the outskirts of the Chamonix Center. It is a flat 10 minute walk to the main center. You will need your own car to get to the ski lifts, or you can walk a few minutes to a bus stop.

About Chamonix
Sitting in the shadow of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is a mecca for extreme skiers with almost everything about the place being big and steep. The thriving town is heaving with fat-ski-carrying, harness-wearing mountain types, and there are several resorts in the area to choose from. If you’re an intermediate or beginner, fear not as you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy a trip to Chamonix.
