SCOUT REVIEW
Hotel Cortina is located right in the heart of Cortina and just across the church and the museum. Family owned and operated since the 1800’s it exudes old world charm, style, grace and service. Scout thinks you will love this hotel because of its authentic Italian ambiance and hospitality, though if you are looking for five star facilities and amenities, this hotel might not be for you. Instead Hotel Cortina feels like you’ve stepped into a family home where you are pampered by the owners and the staff.
Hotel Cortina was renovated in 2006 and a new section was added. It has 46 soundproofed rooms from small standard rooms to suites. Scout recommends the junior suites for couples because of their ample size. All the rooms except the standard rooms are located in the renovated section of the hotel. The rooms are furnished with lovely Tyrolean décor and paintings on the walls, while its classic style bathrooms showcase handcrafted terra cotta tiles. Some of the rooms have views of the mountains, the church and museum.
The 160-seat Italian Restaurant housed in the hotel is simply divine – the restaurant décor matches the hotel’s old world charm. It serves a wide variety of dishes, mostly inspired by traditional recipes. Make sure you top it off with one of their with heavenly pastries. Want to indulge in some cocktails? The Cortina hotel also has bar with a terrace on the Corso Italia where you can watch the world go by. Aside from the fantastic restaurant and bar, the hotel has a small wellness area where you can enjoy a hot tub or a Turkish bath.
Who should stay here
Scout recommends Hotel Cortina for couples of all ages who will appreciate true, old-style Italian touches, and want to be in the heart of the town. The family suites are great for families.
Scout Customer Reviews
The hotel was well placed right in the centre of town. It worked for a short stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Victoria, Scout Customer 2020
Hotel Cortina was good - super location; easy access to the lift in town; the other ski areas require transport if you are in town and the guides have cars so that wasn’t an issue; the hotel was helpful - we had a couple of problems with hot water (fixed overnight) and I left my ski boots (TNT’d to us within a few days). About Cortina d'Ampezzo
Cortina d’Ampezzo is the type of resort we imagine there would be if there were skiing in heaven. Spectacular scenery, wide, gentle open slopes, a charming and historic town and food and wine that’s, appropriately, to-die-for.
