SCOUT REVIEW
Hotel Avenue Lodge is a four star hotel built in 2008 in a style that’s a cross between a cool Paris nightclub and mountain chic. This results in a different European mountain hotel experience, with a very unique and modern edge. Avenue Lodge is located on the main street of Val d'Isère village, and about a 200 meter walk to the ski slopes. It is a five star hotel with plenty of five star services. The common areas of the hotel feel young and urban with lots of interesting artworks and interiors in a contemporary style.
In contrast to the hotel's common areas, rooms are done in a more rustic, mountain style with touches such as faux fur bed spreads and wooden beams. Rooms range from Standard rooms at 25 sqm through to huge Duplex suites (40 to 45 sqm) that have a small lounge area with sofa and an open mezzanine. The Classic rooms (25 to 30 sqm) have slopes views and some have balconies. Other rooms face the village or have a few glimpses of mountains.
The rooms have the latest in technology, including DVD players and flat screen TVs. The bathrooms that have baths even have TVs to watch while relaxing in your tub. The rooms are decorated with slate, glass and dark wood stain throughout the room's walls – a look that can feel dark and heavy, but that's the contemporary nature of the interior design of this hotel. There are sleeper sofas in the suites, for children only.
Hotel Avenue Lodge’s restaurant serves traditional French cuisine. The wellness facilities are excellent with an indoor pool, hot tub, two saunas and a very small work out area. There's a full service beauty spa and hairdresser.
All in all, Avenue Lodge presents great value for a four star establishment, with five star services in an excellent location.
