Scout loves
- Recently updated 3 star hotel which retains its French chalet feel
- Great location: close to the slopes and village whilst being tucked in a quiet position
- The restaurant serves traditional Savoyard fare (including delicious raclette of course!)
- Comfortable, convenient and friendly atmosphere
- Brand new spa with excellent views
Scout tips
- The restaurant is closed on Mondays
- Request a double bed if you're a couple, because some rooms only have single beds that can be pushed together
- After checking out, they let you leave your luggage in at the hotel living room for safe keeping, and you may still use the showers at the ground floor before leaving
- Skis can be rented from the shop opposite the hotel
SCOUT REVIEW
Hotel Avancher has always been a Scout favorite thanks to its charm, friendly service and authentic chalet style and despite the recent upgrade it hasn't lost it's It Factor! The hotel features comfortable couple and family hotel rooms as well as having the additional lodge accommodation which serves self-catered guests in three-bedroom apartments.
Hotel Avancher is one of the oldest in Val d'Isère, built in 1949 but the recent renovations mean that guests now benefit from modern beds and furnishings, chic bathrooms and a brand new spa. It is still a three star hotel and offers some of the friendliest service and best value in all of Val d'Isère valley. All of Val’s restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance and there is even a restaurant on-site with Chef Olivier Nuret serving up the best raclette in the village!
If you are a bit of a whiz on the skis, you can ski nearly into the back of this hotel. However the easiest way to get to and from the slopes is by taking the free and short shuttle bus.
Everything about Avancher is very welcoming and friendly, from the service to the other guests. Apres ski in the bar or out on the terrace is fun yet laid-back and there's a communal lounge area with board games and children's toys. They are also happy to lend/rent you iPads, GoPros, walkie-talkies and GPS systems – the sorts of things you'll need to make your ski day more enjoyable.
One of the hotel's biggest renovations is the spa which now has a sauna, jacuzzi and hammam. The Scandinavian-style sauna is located on the room - hence the epic views! This completely adds to the Avancher experience as do the massage and hair salon services available on-site.
Who should stay here
Hotel Avancher manages to feature a great balance of everything which makes it perfect for couples and families alike.
Location
Hotel L'Avancher is only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the slopes and the village, 300 meters from the Tourist Office. It is not exactly ski-in, but more experienced skiers can ski directly back to the hotel. You can catch the shuttle bus to the village, the hotel is only 50 meters from the bus stop. You can find Avancer on a village map here. Avancher is the red dot - 28.
