Scout loves
- Great indoor-outdoor heated pool, outdoor hot tub, ladies' and men's individual steam rooms, locker rooms, and showers
- The on-site concierge service is helpful for grocery shopping and dinner reservations
- The hotel is about a 3-4 minute walk from the base, but a shuttle bus in the morning can transport you and your gear to the slopes.
Scout tips
- An on-call shuttle bus will also take guests to downtown Steamboat.
- Some of the views aren’t as great as from neighboring lodges – some overlook roads and other buildings. Deep balconies can restrict views from the living areas.
- Condos are furnished according to the individual owner’s tastes, and can vary.
- The complex does not have the same 24 hour services as a hotel, nor does it have any on-site dining facilities.
SCOUT REVIEW
Highmark at Steamboat Springs can be identified by its rather unusual building. With its clock tower, gabled roof, painted blue and green sections alternating with a stone façade, it looks more like the front of a chocolate box than a guest lodge.
But unlike a chocolate box, you do know what you’re going to get – because we’re about to tell you!
Highmark is home to luxuriously-appointed, grand-scale condos that wouldn’t be out of place in Dallas. If you’re travelling with a group of friends or with the family, these condos provide a self-service experience with all the luxury trimmings.
While the condos are all individually furnished, most of the owners have not spared a single expense. Most have been decorated in a heavy mountain style, which means you can expect to see plenty of dark leather sofas, mahogany style timber, rich fabrics, and animal skins. Dare we say it, we feel some of them are a little over-the-top in the furnishing and decorations department, but for many people they will be just right. The complex consists of two, three and four bedroom condos, each with fireplaces, balconies and bathrooms fit for a king. Plus the bedrooms and living areas are spacious, and each condo comes completes with granite kitchens filled with stainless steel appliances.
Scout can book individual units at Highmark so you know the exact condo you are getting for your ski trip.
The common facilities include an indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs, a gym, and sauna. The on-site staff are there to help with grocery shopping, dinner reservations, and entertainment or activity booking.
Highmark in Steamboat Springs is a first-class lodging option for families on a ski vacation, particularly for those who seek a luxurious stay & the convenience of being close to the resort facilities.
Who should stay here
Highmark in Steamboat Springs is suited to discerning families looking for a self-service home-away-from-home, with all the trimmings of a luxurious ski condo.
Location
Located just across from the Steamboat Village main base area, it’s an easy walk, even in ski boots, from Highmark to the Gondola. Shuttle bus will also take guests right to the base (which is great for families with lots of gear). It is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Steamboat where there are plenty of restaurant and bar choices.
- <5 min walk to lifts
- Hotel shuttle provided
About Steamboat
Steamboat Ski Resort is located in northwestern Colorado about a 4-hour drive from Denver. Don’t let the more isolated location turn you off – it works in its favor since it creates a town with a unique character, away from the weekend hoards that flock to resorts closer to Denver. And with endless intermediate terrain, tons of extra activities, and a fantastic après scene, Steamboat makes a great choice.
