SCOUT REVIEW
Fujio Pension is a family owned and operated hotel which opened its doors to skiers 35 years ago. You will never find hosts as gracious and accommodating as Takeshi and Kimie who treat everyone like family. Kimie is in charge of the kitchen, while Takeshi ensures that the guests are pampered and happy. He will drive you to the slopes, lend you his cellphone when need be, get discounted lift tickets, provide you with tips, take your picture or videos, and can serve as your ski guide as he is a fantastic skier too. He’s even been known to give free ski lessons.
Fujio has three types of rooms; the Combination Standard Mountain View room with twin beds and a tatami mat, the Standard Mountain View room equipped with a bathroom, and the Standard Mountain View Twin room with a connecting room and a shared bathroom. The rooms are very comfortable (albeit on the small side), well-maintained and clean.
Breakfast is served at 8 am and dinner starts at 6 pm. Kimie is always busy in the kitchen preparing fantastic Japanese and Western dishes for the guests. On Saturday she serves her specialty, Japanese hot pot! The lodge has a bar lounge where you can have some drinks, and if you have kids with you, they can hang out in the main lounge where there a Japanese comics have great illustrations which they can enjoy even if they can’t read in Japanese. The lodge has an onsen which is open 24 hours. Although it is an artificial onsen, it has the same effect to sooth tired skiing muscles and has a fantastic view of the valley.
Fujio offers a Japanese style experience and hospitality. It will make you feel you never left home with its natural setting and gracious hosts.
