SCOUT REVIEW
You probably don’t need Scout to point out that the ‘Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer Lodge’ is an absurdly long name. In case you’re wondering, the hotel gets its name from the famous hotel chain ‘Fairmont’, followed by ‘Heritage Place’ to indicate that this property consists of the chain’s condos rather than hotel rooms. Meanwhile, Franz Klammer was a famous Austrian ski racer who helped to develop the hotel, and who still stays there occasionally. Finally, the word ‘Lodge’ has been tacked on the end there because ‘Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer’ just sounds weird. To make it easy we'll simply refer to it as Franz Klammer Lodge.
Franz Klammer Lodgge is one of Telluride’s most luxurious condo complexes, and it would make a fantastic choice for families or groups of friends who are planning an extended stay. They provide the ideal home away from home experience where you can relax and cook meals in between your time spent on the slopes. All of the condos feature large kitchens, spacious living areas and comfortable bedrooms. They’ve all been decorated in that typical mountain lodge style, with pine wood furniture, leather couches, stone fireplaces and checkered blankets – striking the right balance between elegance and comfort. And there a number of extra touches that push Franz Klammer Lodge up towards the luxury end of the spectrum, such as candles beside the large bathtubs, and the steam showers.
And if your muscles aren’t tired enough from the day’s activities, there’s a gym on-site with marvelously high windows and views of the mountains. Alternatively, you could unwind in one of the property’s hot tubs or in the outdoor pool – both of which are open 24 hours. Either that or you could book a massage at the Fairmont Himmel Spa, which is one of Telluride’s best. As one would come to expect, the service at the Franz Klammer Lodge is second to none. From a 24-hour conceirge who can make your restaurant reservations or recommend their favourite ski runs, to pre-arrival vacation planning and grocery shopping, the staff are happy to assist with every need you might have throughout your stay.
Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant on-site, it is perfectly located in the heart of the Telluride Mountain Village, steps away from a variety of dining options in Mountain Village for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lodge is also steps from the gondola, which provides complimentary transportation to a multitude of dining opportunities in the town of Telluride.
The Franz Klammer Lodge is a luxurious Telluride lodging option, perfect for families who want to be in the heart of the action of Telluride Mountain Village, super close to the slopes and ski school, and within metres to the free town gondola.

About Telluride
Telluride is a spectacular resort in the heart of Colorado’s San Juan mountains. Getting there is half the fun – the scenic drive from Gunnison or Durango is topped off with an even more picturesque main street. Rarely are ski resorts as pretty as they are challenging, with a nightlife as exciting as it is laid-back, and with accommodation that ranges from ultimate luxury to great budget hotels. Telluride is the complete package and Scout adores it.
