SCOUT REVIEW
Nestled in the historic village centre at the foot of the Val d'Isere ski slopes, Experimental Chalet blends playful design with alpine warmth in an ideal ski-holiday setting. Converted from the former L’Aigle des Neiges in 2024, this boutique-scale hotel with 113 rooms, suites, and lofts brings the Experimental Group’s signature flair to Val d’Isère.
Rooms pair rustic Savoyard accents—maple doors with elk-antler handles, forest-green hues, terracotta details, and snow-white marble—with modern comfort. Expect coffee machines, media centres, minibars, luxe bath products, high-speed WiFi, and balconies or mountain views in many rooms. Interiors reflect Dorothée Meilichzon’s design ethos: quirky, cozy, and distinctly Alpine.
Dining is equally inventive: L’Aigle d’Or offers brasserie-style fare in a warmly furnished lounge, while L’Aiglon embraces Savoyard classics—tartiflette, fondue, and raclette by a wood-burning oven. The hotel’s Experimental Cocktail Club, a brand hallmark, delivers excellent après-ski vibes and late-night atmosphere.
Post-ski relaxation comes easy: unwind in the spa, which features an indoor pool, steam room, sauna, ice bath, and a menu of massages. A boutique shop on-site showcases Alpine designers and Experimental’s own brand. Staff are young, energetic, and helpful, praised for both hospitality and local knowledge.
While it’s not strictly ski-in ski-out, the hotel is only 100 m from the main lifts and snow front, so ski access is convenient. The compact ski room can get busy, but staff are on hand to streamline things. The vibrant lounge spaces and social energy make it a compelling choice for travelers wanting something more dynamic than a traditional chalet hotel.
Who should stay here
Design-savvy couples, groups of friends, and active ski enthusiasts who appreciate lively après-ski, boutique style, and eco-conscious hospitality.
Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère sits in the heart of Val d’Isère village at around 1,850 m elevation. It’s about 100 m from the snow front and main lifts, and just steps from shops, bars, ski rentals, and restaurants. While not ski-in ski-out, it offers quick and easy access to the slopes and resort life
