Deer Valley Set To Double In Size!
Feb 4, 2024
In case you missed it, Utah's premier ski resort, Deer Valley, is undergoing a huge terrain expansion, adding almost 3,700 acres of terrain - that will more than double the current terrain on offer at Deer Valley! As part of the expansion the resort will add 16 new chairlifts and a new 10-passenger gondola, with Alterra Mountain Company (the world's premier mountain operating company) investing over $500 million to enhance the guest (and skier) experience.
The new terrain is spread across multiple peaks, including South Peak, Park Peak, Big Dutch, Pioche and Mail Mountains, all situated just east of Deer Valley's Bald Mountain. Sitting between 6,450 and 9,350 feet in elevation, the new north-facing slopes will offer skiing for all ability levels, including wide-open bowls, gladed areas and nearly a 300 vertical drop - something for every seasoned (and new) Deer Valley skier.
Deer Valley's commitment to the highest level of skier experience still take an even bigger step up with new cutting-edge snow making systems, precise snow grooming (those corduroy runs we know and love), and additions to the current lodging, dining and retail amenities. The resort's new village area, dubbed the 'Deer Valley East Village' will offer a whole new range of luxury hotels, restaurants and skier service facilities including new ski school, rentals, and retail. Plus, the new terrain and village will have direct access from U.S Route 40, making it even easier to hit the slopes.
The mammoth project is set to take a number of seasons to complete, but once the full build is complete, Deer Valley will offer an incredible 5,726 acres of ski-only terrain, 37 lifts and 238 runs spread across 10 mountains. The first portion of new chairlifts and trails is set to open as early as the 25/26 winter season.
