SCOUT REVIEW
It’s very hard to describe the exquisiteness, elegance and grandeur of Cristallo Hotel in Cortina in just a short review. We’ll try but you really should just see it for yourself.
Cristallo hotel opened in 1901 and they picked one of the prime spots in the valley to establish the areas most luxurious hotel. Perched up on the hillside behind the town of Cortina it would have to be up with the most breathtaking views from any ski resort hotel we’ve seen. Not only that, every inch of this hotel is luxurious and opulent. A marvelous exterior and interiors full of hand-painted ceilings and grandiose chandeliers are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s not surprising that it is a perennial favorite of notable and prominent personalities, from presidents to princesses and entertainers to sports stars, in fact two of its suites are named after two famous guests; Frank Sinatra and Peter Sellers. It should be on your bucket list too
The Cristallo has 74 rooms ranging from classic, superior, suite, junior suite, royal suite, family room and presidential suite. Each room is intricately furnished which will make you feel like you are in an elegant wonderland. Although the classic rooms are on the small size (19m2) they’re still comfortable and just as stylish as other rooms. Most of the rooms have balconies which provide panoramic views that are to die for, though some rooms do have restricted views, or views of parks. Definitely request a room with a view of the Valley/Dolomites. If you can, book one of the Superior rooms, or better still, a suite. You won’t be disappointed.
The Cristallo hotel has four restaurants namely the La Veranda where you can have authentic Italian dishes; Cantuccio the chef’s private table; La Stube 1872, where the ingredients come from small local farms; and the Il Gazebo, a gourmet restaurant where not only will you feast on great food, but also the panoramic views. Make sure you get one of the hotel’s signature drinks, the Cristallo Cocktail, at the cocktail bar while listening to live music.
The hotel’s Transvital Swiss Beauty Center features the excellent beauty treatments. You’ll probably spend a lot of time in the 1,600 square meter wellness center which has a Turkish bath, spa, relaxation area, indoor swimming pool (with great views) a gym and hair salon.
