Scout loves
- Fantastic ski-in ski-out location!
- You can ski right up to the condos on the ground floor (bonus!)
- The top floor apartments have atrium ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows
- Chateau Chamonix is one of Scout's favourite lodges and a popular choice among return clients
Scout tips
- Apartments are individually owned, and individually furnished. Many feel dated, although all are comfortable, clean and well maintained.
- Only one of the buildings is slope-side. These “view” rooms come at a higher price but Scout feels they’re worth it. The other buildings are slightly newer and the condos are bigger, but they don’t have views.
- The complex is within walking distance of the village, and there is also a shuttle service that can take you to the village or town on call
SCOUT REVIEW
In the world of ski accommodation, the term ‘ski-in ski-out’ is often used a little too generously. Scout, however, is strict with the definition – we only apply it to hotels that are a few effortless steps from the slopes. Ski-in ski-out hotels are highly sought-after because they mean you don’t have to deal with shuttles or walking a long way in your ski boots while juggling skis and poles – and that privilege comes at a premium.
Chateau Chamonix well and truly falls into the ‘ski-in ski-out’ category, and if you’re staying in one of their ground floor condos, you can practically put your skis on while sitting on your couch! This property provides direct access to the slopes, so whether you need a toilet break or you want to stop for lunch, your condo is never far away.
Scout loves views you get from the top floor rooms – with huge picture windows beneath high ceilings to give you uninterrupted views of the slopes. (If you’re staying on the top floor you’ll be separated from the slopes by an elevator, but it’s worth it). Second floor apartments have the same wonderful views but without the atrium ceilings.
There are two buildings that make up Chateaux Chamonix – the second building is a few extra steps from the slopes, and houses a number of apartments without views (unfortunately). These condos are bigger and slightly newer than those in the front building, which makes up for it. Scout reccomends splurging a little to get yourself a condo in the front building with a view – you won’t regret it!
Chateau Chamonix is a first-choice lodging option for families on a Steamboat ski vacation, particularly for those who seek true ski-in ski-out accommodation & convenient access to resort facilities. There's a reason why our clients return to these condos year after year!
Who should stay here
Chateaux Chamonix would suit families who aren’t looking for 5 star facilities or furnishings, but want a prime position next to the slopes.
Location
The main Chateau Chamonix property is situated on the side of the ski runs, making it truly ski-in ski-out. It’s just a short walk from Steamboat Village once you get off the slopes. A shuttle service can also take guests to the village or town.

About Steamboat
Steamboat Ski Resort is located in northwestern Colorado about a 4-hour drive from Denver. Don’t let the more isolated location turn you off – it works in its favor since it creates a town with a unique character, away from the weekend hoards that flock to resorts closer to Denver. And with endless intermediate terrain, tons of extra activities, and a fantastic après scene, Steamboat makes a great choice.
