SCOUT REVIEW
One of the newest options in Myoko Kogen ski resort, Hotel Silverhorn is in a great location right across the road from the Sky Cable Gondola and about a 10 minute walk from the main street of Akakura Onsen village.
Myoko Silverhorn is the perfect place for families that are looking for some western comforts as they have several large family rooms, with living areas and full en-suite bathrooms.
Hotel Silverhorn was taken over by the team from Myoko Snowsports in 2017 and completely renovated. Small Japanese style rooms with no bathroom facilities whatsoever were turned into large double, group and family suites complete with a separate living area and dining table. Every suite has one or two full en-suites, with a shower/bath, toilet and sink and western beds complete the comfort picture. While they don’t have any kitchenette facilities there is a kettle and mini fridge and management may allow you to eat dinner in the privacy of your own room.
For those that don’t need a lot of room there are a few Japanese style rooms (with no bathroom) and hotel rooms (with western beds and en-suite).
Myoko Hotel Silverhorn also has a restaurant, Zen Dining, serving up western and Japanese style breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Although it’s yet to be tried by Scout we have a feeling it’s going to be delicious.
Although Hotel Silverhorn is not located in the heart of Akakura Onsen village, it is still possible to walk – it’s about a 10 min walk uphill. However the hotel will provide an evening shuttle enabling people to easily head out to the village restaurants and bars.
Who should stay here
Myoko Hotel Silverhorn is great for all visitors to Myoko, but particularly those seeking western beds and living areas and the convenience of having the slopes across the road.
Scout Customer Reviews
Myoko Silverhorn is very conveniently located near the Gondola to whisk you quickly up the mountain. Our Silverhorn hosts were laid back and relaxed and made our stay very comfortable. They went out of their way to make sure the family were given a lift up to the road to the ski school before class every morning - this was an important and nice touch as the ski school is a 15 minute walk away when walking with small children carrying skis and boots. The breakfasts and dinners were the best meals we have had in all our pension and B&B stays - the chef would cater to any dietary requirement and the children loved the food. A lovely downstairs bar in the evenings was a great way to unwind with the family and make new friends to talk about the day's skiing. Our room was large by Japanese standards and had been newly renovated with a coffee machine and fridge and very comfortable beds. We will definitely stay there again. Katherine, Scout Customer 2018
Location
Myoko Hotel Silverhorn is located directly across the road from the slopes of Myoko Kogen Ski Resort. The Sky Cable Gondola (and base area of Akakura Kanko Ski Resort) are about 100m away. Hotel Silverhorn is among a small cluster of resorts at this base area and the main village of Akakura Onesn (where most of the Myoko Kogen action is), is about a 10 min walk uphill. The hotel offers an evening shuttle to get to the village.
On this Myoko Kogen Village map Silverhorn is located to the left.

About Myoko Kogen
Myoko Kogen combines so many excellent elements into one package; several great ski resorts, endless powder snow, relatively thin crowds, plenty of (permitted) tree skiing, a superb ski school, a friendly, traditional Japanese town, a range of accommodation options and easy access. It’s not surprising then that Myoko’s popularity has soared over the past few years.
