- Some of the “valley view” hotel rooms and condos look over parking lots with distant peaks at mountains on the I-70 side of Vail.
- Condos and rooms in the North Building are a little farther from the slopes (but still not far). Some rooms in the South Building overlook the pool and hot tubs.
- A reservation fee and taxes are added to the charge at checkout.
- There is one free parking space per room/condo.

Skiing to the doorstep of your own condo is a privilege few of us ever experience. Doing it in Vail, where ski-in ski-out properties are a rarity, is even more of a luxury. Enter Lion Square Lodge, located right next to the Lionshead Gondola. You couldn't possibly be in a better location for your ski vacation.
There are a wide range of options at Lion Square Lodge – from hotel rooms right through to 6-bedroom condos. Although not all of the rooms have this incredible ski-to-your-door experience, there are plenty of other condos and hotel rooms in this property that are just a bit farther down the corridor in one of the property’s three buildings. The hotel rooms are a decent size and many of them enjoy mountain views. Unusual for a hotel, but just like many condo properties, the hotel rooms are individually owned and all individually furnished. Which means no one will look the same as another. In general, however, the style is a mountain feel, some more modern than others. Every hotel room has coffee machines, mini-fridge, microwave, humidifiers, Aveda products and daily housekeeping. The condos are incredibly spacious, meaning it’s easy to take advantage of the living space for a few extra people. Thus 90 per cent of the condos have sleeper sofas, sometimes two and occasionally bunk beds in the living areas to accommodate more people. Be sure to put it in the request if you have a need for a particular bedding configuration as Scout can reserve a specific condos.
The facilities at Lion Square Lodge are decent – there’s a large outdoor heated pool, several hot tubs (some may be a bit of a trek from your room if you’re in a different building), a great gym, and you can leave your skis out the front for them to store. There is a Mexican restaurant, El Sabor, that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner during winter and a shuttle that can be used on request (if it’s available). Alternatively the bus stop with frequent services to Vail village leaves from close to the back door, so you're never too far from all the action.
We wouldn’t put Lion Square Lodge in the same league as Vail’s luxury hotels, but as a decent and convenient family condo property you really can’t go wrong.
Who should stay here
Lion Square Lodge is perfect for families or couples who want a ski-in ski-out property (condo or hotel room) in Lionshead Village.
Location
Lion Square Lodge is located next to the Eagle Bahn gondola in Lionshead village. It’s possible to ski right up to the door of the property, including to some condos. There is a town of Vail bus stop close to the property and all of the Lionshead Village shops and restaurants are a few steps away.
