Scout loves

  • The property is pretty much ski-in, and not far from being ski-out.
  • All rooms on the valley side have spectacular views, framed by large windows. From some of the rooms you can even catch a glimpse of the slopes.
  • The hotel’s restaurant, Grouse Mountain Grill, is featured in the Zagat Restaurant Review Guide as one of Colorado’s top-rated steak restaurants. (It recently underwent a big refurbishment).
  • All rooms have been recently remodeled, including new carpet.

Scout tips

  • The rooms on the mountain side don’t really have mountain views. For this reason, Scout recommends requesting a room with a valley view.
  • A $30 resort fee will be charged on check out. This includes Wi-Fi, parking, newspapers, coffee (available on each floor), and other services.
  • Noise from the corridors and other rooms has a tendency to travel.
  • The lodge rooms are on the smaller side.

SCOUT REVIEW

Offering some of the most spectacular views of any other hotel in the area, The Pines Lodge is a great option for those who want to stay in Beaver Creek but can’t afford the price tag of some of the more luxury hotels.

The location is one of the hotel’s best attributes: it’s conveniently close to the action, but also somewhat secluded. Skiers can practically ski to the side door of the hotel, where a ski valet will cheerfully lock away your skis for the night. And in the mornings it’s just a short walk (about the distance of two football fields) to a place where you can put on your skis and schuss off to the chairlifts.

Styled to resemble a quant Austrian-style mountain lodge, the rooms within The Pines have been decorated with pretty drawings of flowers – complemented by the pink, green and brown color scheme. Meanwhile, the furnishings and cupboards are finished in, appropriately enough, pine wood. This gives the hotel a bit of an Eighties feel, but that’s okay, because everything has been recently remodeled – with comfort coming out on top.

The Pines Lodge is part of the ‘RockResort’ group of hotels (owned by Vail Resort) and it benefits from many of the services and facilities that are generally found in the more luxurious places. These include valet parking, a ski valet service, hot tubs, a pool (which is, admittedly, a bit on the small side), a gym and more. There’s no question that you will be looked after at The Pines – the parking valets, for instance, are some of the friendliest Scout has ever encountered!

Whatever you do, don’t miss Grouse Mountain Grill – a highly awarded restaurant with delicious steaks on offer. It also has a cool bar area where guests can enjoy après.

Who should stay here

The Pines would be a great option for families on a non-Beaver Creek budget.
