SCOUT REVIEW
Although the Aava Hotel is slightly removed from all the action in Whistler, this is actually one of its main strengths – ensuring you’re away from all the noise and thus able to get a good night’s rest. For a ski resort renowned for being a party town, this is a priceless asset! Plus, it’s really not all that far away – only a short walk from everything the village has to offer.
Despite its quieter location, the Aava still has a young, happening vibe. The hotel has a smart lobby area, several lounge areas, and super cool hanging chairs (the perfect spot to read). The Aava also has many of the luxuries of the higher-end hotels, but at mid-range rates. There’s a small (but adequate) gym, hot tub and heated pool, sauna and ski concierge service – which all help to make your stay easier and more comfortable.
The rooms, however, are more reflective of the mid-range price bracket. They’re small and fairly basic with no kitchen facilities (except for the two bedroom suite), and offer just enough storage room for all your stuff. Scout recommends upgrading to the Superior rooms which have lovely vaulted ceilings – creating more space and offering better views of the surrounding mountains. They also have a few nice touches such as Keurig coffee machines, bathrobes and Aveda products. Many rooms can be interconnected opening up the possibility of larger suites for families - these have a smart layout, with a full kitchen, lounge and fireplace in between two deluxe rooms. Ideal for a shorter stay with the family in Whistler. Most rooms were renovated in recent years, so they offer fresh and contemporary mountain decor.
Aava Hotel is the perfect option for couples and small families who seek great amenities, fantastic service, and easy access to the Whistler Village.
Who should stay here
The Aava Whistler hotel would suit a younger crowd who don’t want to be in a mountain lodge style hotel and who want a convenient yet peaceful location.
Location
Aava Hotel is located down the ski-lift end of Whistler village, a little bit separate from the action. It’s next to the golf course and driving range (which is closed in winter) and is about a seven minute walk in ski boots to the lifts. All of the village’s restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance.
