Trappeur’s Crossing Resort & Spa is a huge condo complex located near the Steamboat ski resort base area. This listing is for the ‘Gold’ standard condos in the complex while the Platinum Collection at Trappeur’s Crossing (which shares the same facilities) is for those looking for a higher end ski condo.

Scout loves

  • Great facilities – including nine outdoor hot tubs.
  • Après ski parties happen every Friday evening during winter.
  • The on-site spa facilities are great for post-ski massages.
  • Ski storage is available right next to your condo. If you have your own skis you can also store them at a mountain ski shop by arrangement with the front desk.

Scout tips

  • The complex is made up of six condo buildings – each was built at a slightly different time, but most have been designed in a similar way.
  • Three of the buildings (Trappeur’s Lodge, Timberline Lodge and Champagne Lodge) are included in this listing, as they include condos in the ‘Gold’ category – for a higher quality of finishes and bigger rooms, we suggest looking at Platinum Collection at Trappeur’s Crossing.
  • There’s a regular ski shuttle running on a loop. The shuttle also makes on call trips downtown.
  • Condos are individually furnished by owners and will vary from condo to condo.
  • Almost all of the condos have their own fireplace, balcony and washer/dryer. (Note: condos in the Trappeur’s Lodge building do not have laundry facilities).
  • A daily resort fee is charged by the hotel and is included in the taxes and fees section on Scout checkout.

SCOUT REVIEW

It comprises six buildings that are nestled among snowy gardens, with pools and hot tubs scattered throughout the grounds.

The first building, Trappeur’s Lodge, was built in 1984. Following its success, Timberline Lodge followed in 2000, Champagne Lodge in 2003, Aspen and Emerald Lodge in 2005 and Bear Lodge in 2008. While the style and design of the condos are all relatively similar, the quality of the lodges is generally affected by the age of the building in which it’s situated.

As such, the newer condos are classified as ‘Platinum’ (please see Platinum Collection at Trappeur’s Crossing) – this particular search listing covers the ‘Gold’ condos. Many of the gold condos enjoy elements of the platinum listings such as HDTVs and granite countertops.

In Scout’s opinion, the Gold condos in this listing would be adequate for a ski vacation where you want a little more flexibility and space than a hotel room. The kitchens, for instance, are a great size – even in the one bedroom condos – perfect for when you want to ‘cook in’ a little, or a lot.

Kids will love the indoor/outdoor pool in the amenities center plus all the pools in the surrounding courtyards – each day there’ll be a new pool to discover, as there are four in total. Meanwhile, parents will love the on-site spa as well as the Friday apres night, providing the opportunity to mix and mingle with other guests.

Who should stay here

Trappeur’s Crossing is for families on a budget who aren’t fussy and don’t mind being a little out of the way.
