SCOUT REVIEW

The Tower hotel in Tomamu is a very busy and vibrant hotel that has 500 rooms. It is a Japanese-Western style hotel although it would be safe to say it is more western than Japanese. It is a very family friendly hotel – conveniently located just steps away from the main ski lifts.

The Tower Hotel in Tomamu offers a variety of room types including standard rooms with twin beds and living areas and family rooms which have a sleeping room for up to five people and living area. Most of the hotel rooms were renovated about three years ago, and the the standard twin and triple rooms have had a slight re-furbishment. All of the rooms offer western style accommodation and amenities. In general, they have the typical soft colors you will find in most Japanese hotels, but they feel fresh and have a pop of colour here and there. Some of the views from the rooms on the higher floors are amazing and Scout recommends that you request for a room with slope side views to have better views of the mountains.

The Tower Tomamu has a café which Scout loves – it even serves relatively decent coffee by Japanese standards.  The café is beautifully designed with a Scandinavian touch and features big picturesque windows. Although the hotel does not have an onsite restaurant, it has connecting walkways to numerous dining options or you can take the bus to the various restaurants in the ski area. Dinner can be included in a package via Scout, for a discounted price compared to purchasing when there.

The hotel has tons of facilities including a game room, ski rental shop, souvenir shop, and many more.

Scout Customer Reviews

The Towers accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. The resort ski rental was excellent, where at the end of the day you just hand your gear at a building at the base of the ski lifts and hotel entrance and they put it away for you to claim next morning when you are ready to go.  The Ice Village was a highlight of the trip (especially for my daughter), and a must see on one the nights you stay there. Food was good but marginally dearer then anywhere else in Japan, and because of the location (2 bus stops away) we didn't use the Onsen. There were large charter groups from China which made the feel of the place more crowded than we are used to, but the hotels and restaurants are well organised, and we never had to wait very long for anything, and the service we received was excellent throughout. Overall I felt that Tomamu was an excellent ski resort and despite its size, much better in handling large groups than Disney or Universal Studios. Yes it was busy, but it still felt spacious, and as I mentioned earlier we didn't have to wait long for anything, and I stress the service was excellent throughout.
