SCOUT REVIEW

Scout has seen some of the world’s best ski hotels - from the Carlton Hotel in St Moritz to Les Airelles in Courchevel (that rates in a category above 5 stars – as a “palace”) to Aspen's Little Nell and St Regis and the Deer Valley triple of MontageSt Regis and Stein Eriksen. The Ritz Carlton at Beaver Creek comfortably sits among them as one of the best. Catering to the most discerning and sophisticated guest who wants the upmost in luxury and service, The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch is truly exceptional. It is a wonderland for skiers and Scout can’t help but gush about its facilities, rooms and service.

The hotel has 180 beautiful rooms including suites and residences. It has a variety of room types catering to all types of guests. All the rooms are a decent size, beautifully decorated in a modern alpine style, are well-maintained, clean and equipped with modern top-notch amenities. All have fantastic views either of the slopes or the mountains.

There are numerous dining, drinking and socializing options at Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch and Scout’s favorite would be Sakaba – a wonderfully curated Japanese menu featuring fantastic sake, Japanese spirits and craft cocktails. Check out Buffalo's for a more casual dining restaurant. The hotel also offers live entertainment and every evening the lounge and outdoor deck become quite the happening scene with guests of all types mixing and mingling together from beautifully coiffed ladies in fur coats to families with young kids – everyone is here for a good time. However kids are probably more likely to be found on the Mountainside Terrace toasting marshmallows. Head to the Great Room for a night cap in front of the three storey stone fireplace, and enjoy a live band.

One of the highlights of this hotel is its Spa facilities. It is a 21,000-square-foot spa featuring 19 treatment rooms and a manicure/pedicure salon, a fitness center with top-notch equipment, and also offers private yoga classes. Scout loved the grottos, a section of the spa that’s separate for men and women, and features a sauna, steam room, hot tub and icy plunge pool. The outdoor hot tubs and huge swimming pool are also a highlight, right beside the ski slopes.

Like most of the Ritz Carlton Hotels, children are well taken care of via their Ritz Kids program that includes a ski nanny (to help with dropping off and picking up kids from ski school, snacks provided), childcare, daily activities and one of our favorites – a teepee provided in rooms for kids aged 5-12, complete with bed, gifts and camping equipment (subject to availability)!

Getting on the slopes in the morning is super easy from the plush ski locker room (where they also have rentals). The ski concierge outside will hand you your skis and with just a few pushes you’ll be on your first lift for the day.

If you have a bucket list for top ski hotels around the world, the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch is a must.
