SCOUT REVIEW
Located in one of the best positions in Beaver Creek, The Osprey is central to everything in the village – including the ski school and gondola. If that isn’t enough, the Strawberry Park Express lift is located right out the back of the hotel, making your mornings simple. And at the end of the day, it’s simply a matter of schussing down the slope to the door – where the ski valet will pick up your skis, help you out of your boots and into a pair of slippers. This makes The Osprey truly ski-in ski-out, and the perfect choice for a ski vacation in Beaver Creek.
As for the rooms themselves, everything is styled in an ultra-hip way that manages to be comfortable and refreshing, while still remaining true to its mountain setting. The rooms are spacious – with the Lodge and Superior rooms expanding up to 500 square feet (the only difference between the two is that the Superior Rooms have a gas fireplace). The Deluxe Rooms boast a nice bath, spacious lounge, and high ceilings. Some of the condos and hotel rooms can be interconnected, creating flexible living spaces for families & multiple options for bedding. In terms of views, some of the rooms on the first & second floots look out onto the chairlift – which can be fantastic for diehard skiers who want to go to bed each night dreaming of powder – but for others it may be a little disappointing.
Aside from ‘ski-in ski-out’, ‘boutique’ is another term that tends to get bandied all too often, however in this instance the label truly fits. The staff will remember your name, because with only 47 rooms, each guest is treated like family. One can expect similar service at the on-site Fireside restaurant which boasts some fantastic local produce, plus a happening bar scene. The outdoor pool area with heated deck, hot tub and poolside bar is a top spot to spend après with new (and old) friends.
A final word: during the high season and over weekends, The Osprey isn’t cheap. But when you consider everything that it's got going for it, the value for money is excellent.
Who should stay here
The Osprey would be well-suited to families who are travelling during the school holiday period. It’s also great for hip couples and groups of friends who don't mind spending a little extra for comfort, style and service.
Location
The Osprey is located only a few steps from the Strawberry Park Express (the back door of the hotel faces the slopes!). Meanwhile, its front door is just over the road from the village base – which includes the gondola, ski school, restaurants, shops and bars, so you are super close to everything you might need.
