The Sheraton at Steamboat is one of the few luxury hotels in the area, and it’s Scout’s preferred choice when needing a hotel room at the resort base. It provides a much-needed alternative from all the condo complexes that dominate the resort (although the Sheraton does provide condo options as well).

Scout loves

  • This is the most central of all the hotels in the Steamboat ski village – it’s the best located ski-in ski-out hotel.
  • Mountain Suites are brand new (opened for the 2013/14 ski season).
  • The pool and outdoor hot tub area has just been refurbished and made bigger.
  • The slope-side villas and condos offer fantastic views.
  • There are two restaurants in the hotel and one café – with plenty more to choose from right outside the front door.

Scout tips

  • Sheraton Steamboat Resort consists of three types of offerings: hotel rooms (including hotel suites), Village Inn Condominiums and the new Mountain Suites.
  • The property is separate from Sheraton Villas (which is an adjoining condo complex).
  • The condominiums are individually owned and therefore individually decorated.
  • Hotel Suites have a separate living area as well as a small kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator and sink.
  • Valley View rooms have great views out to the southern mountains and gondola area – the higher the room, the better. Village View rooms look towards the Ski Time Square area and other condos – with some mountains in the distance.
  • A $20 per day resort fee covers self-parking, Wi-Fi and water. Valet Parking costs $10 a day.

SCOUT REVIEW

‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ might be a cliché – but like all clichés, it contains a grain of truth. The Sheraton’s three buildings dominate the base of the village, and while they’re not architecturally pleasant to look at, (the first two buildings were constructed in the 70s and 80s), what they contain within is pleasantly surprising. Scout found the hotel rooms to be elegantly decorated, spacious and luxurious, although the bathrooms were a little on the small side.

Naturally The Sheraton has the feel of a corporate chain hotel, but it offers so many great benefits – including its premier ski-in ski-out location, ski valet, spa, games room and newly expanded pool area. Additionally, there are a number of terrific dining options.

Brand new for the 13/14 season, the mountain suites would be perfect for a longer stay. They’ve all been decorated in a contemporary urban style, and many feature spectacular views of the slopes. Plus they all have kitchens, washing machines, clothes dryers, and balconies.

Meanwhile, the Sheraton Village Inn Condominiums are larger than the mountain suites, but are individually owned so furnishings can vary from one to the next. They have all the amenities you would expect from a condo (such as washers, dryers, kitchens, balconies and fireplaces) and the spectacular slope-side views are guaranteed.

Who should stay here

Would suit those wanting full-service luxury in the heart of the Steamboat ski village area.
