SCOUT REVIEW

Phyntoncide Morinokaori would have to take the award for strangest hotel name on Scout. But as far as strange things go, that’s where it ends, because this pension is charming and homely in a convenient location tucked in the forest just down the hill from the ski slopes.

The pension is run by a family and despite the large presence of the building it’s small with only a six of rooms. Perhaps it’s because the rooms are some of the largest Scout has seen in a Japanese hotel or lodge that they take up so much room!

The rooms are simply furnished with classic Japanese colour schemes – florals, browns and pastels. Each bedroom has it’s own full ensuite including bath and shower. There’s a mix of twin, triple and deluxe twin rooms.

Rates include breakfast which looks quite generous and includes western dishes made from local ingredients and home made bread. Expect a few Japanese dishes as well.

If you’re after a friendly, authentic Japanese experience while staying at Furano then look no further than Phyntoncide Morinokaori.
