Conveniently located close to the Shinyu chairlift, Kawazen is a fantastic contemporary lodge for large family groups who want to be close to everything you need. This newly renovated Western-style 5 bedroom house offers a boutique experience for families in Nozawa Onsen.
The house is sold as a single property and is made up of 5 wonderfully styled bedrooms, each offering something different to suit most families and groups. There are 3 bedrooms that boast Western-style bedding for those that prefer it, or a Japanese room with futon mattresses and tatami matting (for those seeking a more traditional stay). One of the bedrooms also feature two sets of twin bunk beds (single over double), perfect for the kids. Scout recommends Kawazen for a larger group of up to 12 people, or multiple families who want to enjoy a more intimate self-contained stay. The rooms are a great mix of Western and Japanese design, with plenty of wood accents and modern bathrooms.
Kawazen features a number of common areas including a large kitchen for guests to cook up a storm and dining area for entertaining. The drying room is spacious for everyones ski gear. There is no onsen on-site, however, the popular Furusato-no-yu is located less than a minute walk away. Guests will enjoy the convenient access to local restaurants and shops, and proximity to the chairlift.

Location
Kawazen is a fantastic location, just short walk to the Shinyu Ski Lift which accesses the Hikage base area. The village centre is about a 5-10 minute walk, however, you can also jump on the local resort shuttle if needed. Two of the most popular onsen in Nozawa, Shinyu, is located nearby, and our other favourite onsen, Akiha-no-yu, is also close by.
