SCOUT REVIEW

Offering a refreshingly down-to-earth feel, The Inn at Steamboat is run by a family who took over ownership a little over a year ago. Genuinely warm and friendly, the staff will make you feel welcome from the moment you step inside the lobby. Whether you’re travelling with the family or with a group of friends, it would be nearly impossible not to feel comfortable here.

The rooms are a decent size, with just enough storage space to let you unpack all your ski gear. While not luxurious, the rooms are simple and tasteful, with some offering excellent views. (There are two views to choose from, but Scout recommends paying the little bit extra for a valley view – especially the top floor rooms. Otherwise you might find yourself looking out over the back area of the hotel).

Because the hotel is in an older building, the rooms aren’t totally soundproof – but not so much that it should be a problem. Meanwhile, there are plenty of great amenities on offer – including a fantastic pool and hot tub area (fantastic for a hotel of this size, at least), as well as a sauna, lounge area and massage room.

You will get to know the shuttle bus – due to the hotel’s location you will have to rely on it to get to and from the slopes (it’s too far to walk). And conveniently, the bus is painted bright red, ensuring it’s virtually impossible to miss!

The shuttle will also go on-call to town for dinner and drinks – it’s only 10 minutes away, and is definitely worth the trip – many of the restaurants and bars in the town are fabulous.
