Scout loves

  • The friendly, family run atmosphere, with a lot of history. You've got to admire a small French hotel that hasn't sold out.
  • Good value, clean, on a quiet street, conveniently located to the slopes and the village.
  • Some fantastic slope views that many of the village hotels envy.

Scout tips

  • Most rooms have options between double or single beds, put in a request according to your desired sleeping arrangements.
  • Some rooms have bathrooms without doors to the main bedroom.
  • Some rooms do not have showers, and you will need to use a communal shower.
  • Free outdoor parking and the hotel is just a short walk from the bus stop.

As one of the first hotels in the Val d’Isere area, Hotel Bellier has a great sense of history. It was first opened in December of 1950, by Henri Bellier, a gentleman who had been hosting people in various properties around the valley. Henri Bellier was a passionate skier who fell in love with the charming Val d'Isère village. It’s still run by the same family with the grand daughter of Henri Bellier, Magali and her husband, Jacques, currently running the hotel.

Fortunately Hotel Bellier has retained its charm and sense of tradition over the generations. It's a three star hotel, that unlike many of the other hotels in the area, has not undergone massive, luxurious improvements over time. However, we feel it offers a wonderful experience and connection with the local area. Hotel Bellier is an excellent option for those who aren't fussy and like their stay to be homely, laid back, and not too expensive.

Hotel Bellier is relatively small with a mix of Single rooms all the way through to Family rooms. The Single rooms are quite small, but certainly fine for someone petite rather than tall who just needs a place to lay their head. It does have its own little bathroom. Some of the rooms are connecting, which can be useful for families or groups.  The Superior room is bigger and has a south facing balcony. Many of the rooms face the mountains and have spectacular views of the ski slopes. Some rooms have separate bath and shower, though all rooms have a separate toilet. Some rooms do not have a shower, and guests will have to use a communal shower, so it is worth noting if you are particular about the bathrooms.

Facilities in the hotel are relatively basic. There is a hot tub and a sauna. The restaurant serves a simple breakfast only (no lunch or dinner) which can be taken in the dining room or delivered to your room. There's a small bar area where you can lay back in front of a wood fireplace, enjoy après drinks or hot chocolate, and access the internet.
