SCOUT REVIEW

Hotel Bearmonte is a simple but great mid-range hotel in Asahidake that is great for those who want to be a few steps away from the Asahidake ropeway. Although the hotel has seen better days the hotel is still a great value if you are not expecting much and just want to enjoy its convenient location.

The hotel has six types of accommodations namely the Western-style twin room, Western-style twin room with balcony, Western-style four beds with loft, Japanese–style room, Suites/ Twin room with Asahidake view, Suites/ Twin room with Tokachi dake view. The rooms with a loft affords guests a bigger space although it can still be tight for four skiers with all their ski equipment and gear, so it might be best suited for couples. Some of the rooms are smoking rooms so do make a request for a non-smoking room if deemed necessary. All the rooms are equipped with a bathroom and a washlet toilet with supplies of toiletries, and feature a TV (no English channels), electric kettle, dryer and a safety box.

The room rate includes buffet breakfast and dinner served at the Stella Monte Restaurant. The food is nothing to really rave about expect for the Sushi which is excellent. There is a bar lounge with a fireplace, (though it’s not always open).

Hotel Bearmonte has natural onsens including private onsen for rent, where you can have a bath with friends or family. The onsen area features massage chairs, and two different types of sauna. Other facilities include a laundry, a small convenience store, vending machines and a ski and snowboard rental shop for backcountry skiing (limited equipment available). Although the hotel needs some updating, its prime location is still the best in the area.  If you just want to ski all day, enjoy a natural onsen after, and have a good and comfortable sleep, then Hotel Bearmonte is a great choice.

Who should stay here

Hotel Bearmonte is great for a group of skiers who just want to have comfortable and convenient digs close to the ropeway at relatively good value.
