Scout loves

  • Location, Location, Location. Right in the heart of town. Bus stop to all ski resorts is located right outside the front door.
  • Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables can be seen from most of the hotel’s many rooms – providing some of the best views in Queenstown.
  • Almost every room has an outdoor deck area.

Scout tips

  • The rooms are decorated in a simple, unfussy yet corporate style.
  • The 7th floor is only accessible by stairs from the 6th floor.
  • Some of the rooms at the back face a courtyard. Scout only recommends the rooms with a view.
  • Best rooms are on the 6th and 7th floor facing the lake, but really any lake-view room is great.
  • There is a charge for parking but some streets above the hotel have parking spots.

Crowne Plaza Queenstown is a great option if you’re looking for something at the higher end of mid-range in a super location and with incredible views. It's perfect for a short stay.

The whole place has the feel of a city hotel with a funky edge. For example, the lobby area seems to be going for a ‘W Hotel’ kind of vibe. There are some cool lounge areas for relaxing or enjoying an après drink at the end of an exciting day on the slopes.

Let’s not forget the convenience of this hotel’s location, and the great benefits on offer – not to mention the spectacular views which are visible from nearly every room. ‘Convenience’ really is the key word here – Crowne Plaza is in a central location with a bus stop right outside its front door, plus it’s possible to organize a transfer from the airport via jet boat (with check-in on the wharf). And if that’s not adventurous enough, you could even choose to arrive by helicopter – with check-in on a mountain facing the lake.

Additionally, the concierge staff are super friendly, and more than happy to make bookings on your behalf – saving you the hassle of having to traipse around town. Another great benefit is the 24 hour dining room service, which ensures you’ll never go hungry no matter how late in the night it may be.

All in all, Crowne Plaza Queenstown is a decent hotel which would be perfect for a short trip.
