SCOUT REVIEW

Akakura Central Hotel is a great value hotel right on the edge of the ski slopes at Myoko Kogen. In fact, when snow allows it, you can practically ski right to the door at the end of the day. Central Hotel is also just a few minutes walk down the hill to Akakura Kanko village’s main street where you will find plenty of bars and restaurants.

Like many of the hotels in Myoko Kogen, Central Hotel looks quite run down from the outside. Once inside some of the decor is so dated it’s almost retro cool. However it’s clean and given the friendly atmosphere and wonderful staff, some who are native English speakers, we’re sure you’ll soon relax and enjoy everything this hotel has to offer.

Akakura Central Hotel has large communal living spaces with comfortable lounges and a log fire to make you feel right at home after a day on the ski slopes. The bar is the perfect place to enjoy a few drinks and chat to other guests.

The rooms at Central Hotel are similarly dated but are clean and comfortable. There are western twin rooms, Japanese rooms and also family rooms.  The hotel has an onsen and and an onsite restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner.  Japanese breakfast and western breakfast is available.

Who should stay here

Akakura Central Hotel in Myoko Kogen is great for anyone, families with children included, who is looking for reasonably priced slopeside accommodation and willing to look past a few faults. The large communal areas would also make Akakura Central Hotel a good choice for groups.
